Foothill College, in Los Altos, California, formally established the Carnegie-based "Teaching Academy" during the Winter Quarter, 1999.

It consists of faculty members, representing a wide range of disciplines and perspectives, who conduct "Campus Conversations" for discussion of various aspects of the scholarship of teaching.

The Academy's current focus areas are: on-line education and student diversity.
