Quiz Script

This quiz is much like the ones found in magazines, like Cosmo. However, as it appears on a website, I wrote this script to make it interactive. Instead of having the user total their own score, this script uses a form to collect the points for each answer and displays the results in a pop-up window.


In these heady home improvement days, chances are you're someone who wants to remodel. You definitely feel unsatisfied with your home. And your mind turns over the possibility of a shiny new kitchen, a large family room, or a better bath. But emotions alone should not propel you into a renovation unless you're ready. To decide when the time is right, ask yourself the following questions. You may choose a single answer or any combination of answers.

1. Why do I want to renovate?
To meet the space needs of my family.
To create a more pleasing environment.
Because the rest of the neighborhood is doing it.

2. How will I begin my search for a contractor?
Check to see if your exterior specialists can help
Ask family and friends for references
Look for the largest ad in the Yellow Pages under heading "Contractors"

3. Am I willing to take the time to select the right contractor for the job?
I will provide a description of the project and its scope including any extras
I will get several bids and compare them closely regarding labor, materials, and time frame
I will choose the lowest bidder

4. What is my current financial situation?
I have sufficient savings to cover the selected bid including 10-15 percent for cost overruns
I have home equity loan, home improvement construction loan, or personal loan
I plan to finance the project using credit cards

5. What is on the work and family calendars for the next few months?
No schedule changes or workload increases planned
No major time-consuming events planned such as weddings, school plays, etc.
The next several months will be extremely hectic at home and at work

6. What have the previous three months been like?
Generally status quo
Status quo with one or two small negative developments
Rather stressful

7. What is your current state of mind regarding renovation?
Looking forward to the finished result, but worried about the disruption
Somewhat anxious about the end result, the cost, and finishing on time
Just want to get going and get it over with
